Well, the end is nigh. The end of the year that is, with just one week to go til we take a bit of a well earned break here at AdTown. So feast your eyes on this, our second last Friday wrap up of 2008.
Get a dose
We've dealt with enough industry politics in our time to not be super enthused by the real world of politics. But funky fashions and hot chicks, well, that's another matter entirely. So the 'Liberal Dose of Fashion' event is at least worth mentioning. Not surprisingly it's the brain child of Rachel Sanderson of Rachel's Models and Liberal candidate for Adelaide. Featuring designers such as Liza Emanuele, Lula Blu and Youthworks, Rachel says it's "a chance to see the work of designers and mix with some of our hard working Liberal politicians". Hey, one out of two aint bad. It's this Tuesday Dec 16 so get your tickets now by calling 8212 0097. Mention you saw this on AdTown and pay just $30 a ticket. (Ok, that's exactly the same price as everyone else but mention us anyway just for the heck of it)
New digs?
Looking for a new office? Ex-Fnukyer David Campbell says he's got a funky new office that could do with "some extra bodies in it". Seeing as Ivan Milat is otherwise occupied, maybe live bodies will have to do. Who knows, maybe even yours? It's in Gilbert Place in the city and would be just dandy for freelancers. Hell, we liked it so much we considered moving AdTown HQ there but it simply wouldn't be big enough for all our staff. You can check out the details here.
Scam ad alert
No, don't get too excited. We're not outing anyone for doing a scam ad. Quite the contrary. The Fake Film Fest is coming up, (the festival is real, the films are fake) and there's a category for fake ads. Yes, really. So all you creatives who've been trying to find a dog training place, a charity, a whatever to sell your concepts to in the hope of garbbing your share of albeit shonky awards glory, this could be right up your alley. They say "sell us a product and play with the formulas. Enlighten us to the necessity of Rocket Pants or the Chees-omatic 2000!". We say, go for it. Entries close Jan 16 so if you've got nothing better to do over the Christmas break, click here for details.
PREVIOUS STORY
Oh, and if you're wondering about the significance of the picture accompanying today's story, hell, so are we. We figure one of you clever creative dudes or dudettes will be able to come up with some sort of rationale. So if you do, be sure and let us know.
