Well be the first to admit, our news isnt always hot off the press. Sometimes its luke warm, and today, well, to be honest, its just as cold as a left over pie at 3pm in need of a good microwave. What can we say? Last week was kind of crazy for us and we missed telling you about a great campaign that hit the streets - literally.
If you were in Rundle Street a week or so ago, (or read the paper or watched TV) you would have heard all about a new campaign for Paraquad SA. The ambient campaign, which we eventually found out was produced by JAM, saw printed wheelchair wheels with the Dont drink and drive this festive season message attached to hundreds of diners chairs along the Rundle Street cafe strip. Michel Vickers at Paraquad SA said a spinal cord injury is sometimes only one drink away and he was over the moon with the attention the campaign had received. He said the support from cafes and the agency, who even chipped in to help attach the wheels, had been sensational.
We know telling you about it now isnt exactly breaking news (hell, the thing is even on Bestadsontv.com now - which is kind of weird to us cause, well, it's not exactly on tv is it?), but we did miss giving it a mention. And although we bang on about not being here to judge, we have to say we think this campaign is cooler than a day in a g-banger at the Ice Arena (Not that any of us here have ever done that and any rumous or possible photographic evidence suggesting otherwise are completely unfounded!). And were obviously not alone (Thinking it's cool, that is, not ice skating in our jocks). Its had punters and industry folk talking since it first appeared a few Fridays ago. Dare we say, it even has more than just a faint whiff of gold about it (gold [wheel]chair anyone? Come April, remember we called this and the Mash 'Changing Lanes' wine label fighting it out for the big one) and we can only imagine how many gongs it will pick up around the place over the next 12 months.
So well done to the guys at JAM... We know this is a bastard of a thing to admit, but here at AdTown, when we first saw it we actually thought it was so good we assumed it originated from interstate. Yeah, yeah, we know. But hey, were just being honest. Anyway, if you missed it, now you can consider yourself updated.
