A human award entry, musical chairs and the AADC quiz night winners

OK, so today is more than a two course meal with dessert rather than the full smorgasbord weve served up the past few weeks, but hopefully it will be enough to hit the spot.

Designer enters self in awards

This weekend is the AGDA awards, and one of the more unusual entries youre ever likely to see isnt just by Sydney designer Christopher Doyle, it is Christopher Doyle. In what may well be a world first, Doyle entered himself in the Self Promotional category. Yes, he literally flew himself down to Adelaide and turned up to the judging in person a few weeks back and stood amongst the other entries waiting to be judged. According to Chris whos stunt is now getting worldwide attention courtesy of the internet, It was very much a self promotional tool but the idea was purely to do something I completely directed myself which you dont get the opportunity to do that much. His entry was accompanied by an hilarious 17 page corporate identity guide featuring various images of himself in a variety of both acceptable and unacceptable contexts as would be produced for a big brand logo. It was amazing how easily the language and the rules could be transposed onto a person he said. Much to Christophers surprise, we managed to get our hands on a copy of it and you can see it right here

Musical Chairs

October has been another busy month for staff moves amongst Adelaide agencies. After freelancing with Einstein Da Vinci for a number of weeks, former Imagination Games designer Kent OHalloran joins Showpony as Senior Art Director. Nicole Rowett has also joined the team as Account Director having previously worked at Nova and KWP!

Tegan Ali has taken up the position of Account Manager at Deep Blue Water Communication after stints at Martins and Showpony and Yvonne Yates has joined LA Advertising as a graphic designer.

Black Sheep writer Ryan McGrath is leaving the agency on what Creative Director Andrew Millar describes as a world tour of backpackers diseases and dysentery clinics throughout India and Asia. Hell be replaced by Adena Graham, who was originally a barrister but moved into advertising in the UK where she worked on high profile accounts including British Airways, Nissan, LOreal and Guinness. According to Millar, Graham is hoping to use her time in Australia to learn to drive and overcome her fear of spiders - possibly by having a spider teach her to drive.

Meanwhile, marketing research and consulting company Square Holes has appointed Mal Chai as Account Manager. Chai has worked with Adelaide Fringe and most recently with youth broadcaster Fresh FM and Managing Director Jason Dunstone says his skills and knowledge will help strengthen our ability to deliver innovative marketing insights.

KWP! wins the big one

They may have missed out at Cannes this year, but KWP! took out top honours at last nights AADC quiz night. Their team Densa (think Mensa, but denser - geddit?) were the smarty pantses of the night and took home a lovely little prize haul. But full credit goes to the AADC for putting on a fun night. You can check out the pics of people looking dazed and confused here (and hey, there's TWO pages of pics, so make sure you don't miss out on any of them).

This is a stick up

And finally, look, we've tried being nice. We've asked politely. We've begged. We've pleaded. But our November revenue projections are looking about as low (and unattractive) as Ron Jeremy's sagging scrotum. So if you don't book an ad or upgrade your memership, we're going to kidnap your family. Unmarked bills are preferred. But we also take cheques and paypal. All donations gratefully received.
